Alaskan Travel Experience

In June of 2021 we embarked on an adventure to Alaska with a group of friends.  Our trip was going to be quite the adventure with 7 days of activity packed.

Before we decided to join in this trip I started with my new travel process.

1.  Look at schedule to figure out when I can run dialysis

2.  Call our place we are staying to see if supplies can be shipped ahead of time.

3.  Call Nxstage to see if they can ship supplies to Alaska

4.  Call flights to make certain what is approved

It was all a go!  Careful planning I would run dialysis at night (during supper). So missed a lot of social interactions but it was worth it to be able to go on this trip.  We had 7 days of fishing boot camp and lived every part of it.

I did my normal Nxstage travel policy and planned everything months ahead.  Foster Cabins in Alaska were amazing to work with and where willing to allow my supplies to be droop off way before my arrival.

Little did I know that Nxstage would ship 5 orders of supplies to my home address instead of one order to Alaska.  Each day as it got closer to my arrival at the cabin the managers would check in with no supplies yet.  Finally 2 days before our flight and order #6 arrived at the correct location.

LESSON LEARNED:

1.  Make sure your supplies arrive at the correct location.

2.  Keep the Nxstage number close by

3.  Keep track of order numbers for travel as NxStage kept saying it was delivered to the correct location until I sent pictures verifying that I kept getting the orders.
